Easter means many things to many people, but it certainly does mean increased holiday traffic to anyone travelling on the roads at this time.
From Thursday, sights such as the traffic heading south at Albion Park (pictured) will be familiar as people head to the South Coast for their holidays. Traffic conditions will be predictably heavy.
Last year, through the early period in Easter, holidaymakers heading southbound faced long queues and long delays.
If you have to travel at those peak traffic times be mindful you will face a wait to reach your destination. Take extra time and care.
Keep an eye on illawarramercury.com.au and we update the traffic over the Easter period and let people now of any incidents or areas to avoid.
We do not publish on Good Friday due to the public holiday but we will update news as it happens online. Many of the usual sections in the Friday edition of the Illawarra Mercury will move to Thursday as a result.
The complete weekly television guide and the racing guide for Easter racing will be published in the Thursday, April 29, edition of the Illawarra Mercury. The Easter religious messages will also be published in the Thursday edition.
The Easter Saturday edition of the Illawarra Mercury will be published as normal and will feature a special eight-page wrap ahead of the St George Illawarra Dragons’ first Wollongong home game on Easter Sunday against the Newscastle Knights at WIN Stadium.
DRAGONS ARE ON FIRE
The St George Illawarra Dragons have started the 2018 NRL season with a bang.
Unbeaten after three rounds, the Dragons put the Gold Coast Titans to the sword in emphatic fashion with a 54-8 win on Sunday.
Next in line are the Knights.
The Dragons’ start to the seasons holds plenty of promise but last year started the same way only for the side to fade away and miss the finals.
Dragons coach Paul McGregor will be keen to ensure the side does not make the same mistake again this season.
A big crowd is guaranteed for Sunday’s clash at WIN Stadium.
Get along and support the Dragons in their 2018 campaign.
