Keira junior Matthew Garnero has been named Cricket Illawarra Junior Male Cricketer of the Year after an impressive season in both club and representative fixtures.

The 14-year-old scored 466 runs and took 33 wickets throughout the season and played a key role in the Illawarra under 15’s run to the Weblin Shield final.
Wests youngster Kayla Burton was awarded the Female Junior Cricketer of the Year. Burton was a member of the ACT/NSW Country team that was victorious at the Under 15 Australian Championships in January.
The wicketkeeper scored 154 runs and took two catches at the tournament and was selected as a member of the Cricket Australia Under 15 Talent Squad.
Jasmine Roberts won the female spirit of cricket award. Roberts plays alongside Garnero in the Keira boys under 16A team and has dedicated many hours to assisting junior girls players. Roberts coaches junior girls and has helped open up opportunities for girls to play cricket in the region.
