Up until now the office has been owned and operated by Angela Devitt, a former RMB Lawyers employee, who purchased the firm from RMB Lawyers in 1999.
Now 19-years later Ms Devitt is selling her firm back to RMB as she prepares for retirement. Ms Devitt’s son Geoff Devitt will continue working at Warilla location for RMB Lawyers. He has been a lawyer for 12 years.
Managing partner Craig Osborne said RMB Lawyers welcomed the opportunity to acquire the firm and continue the outstanding work that Ms Devitt has delivered to the Warilla community for two decades.
“It is our mission to make the legal experience accessible, convenient, valuable and personal. We use our size and strength to provide people throughout the Illawarra and NSW with easy access to highly skilled lawyers and fast resolutions for their legal concerns. The timing of the Warilla acquisition is right for both Ms Devitt and RMB Lawyers,” Mr Osborne said.
RMB presently employs 110 people in 11 regional offices. Four of the offices are located in the Illawarra. Warilla now makes that five.
“RMB Lawyers will continue to employ all current staff of Angela Devitt Solicitors, and are confident the acquisition will create new jobs for the region,” Mr Osborne said.
Ms Devitt is confident she is leaving her clients in good hands.
“The Warilla and wider Shellharbour community can continue to expect the same level of personal attention and detail that Angela Devitt Solicitors provided, with the additional benefit of the expertise and breadth of services that RMB Lawyers offer,” she said.
RMB Lawyers will continue to work with the Illawarra Cancer Carers, a cause close to Ms Devitt’s heart.
“I have been a sponsor of the Illawarra Cancer Carers Breast Cancer and Lymphoedema Golf Day for six years. My mother and many of my friends have suffered from breast cancer so it is a charity dear to my heart. I am so pleased that RMB Lawyers will continue to support this event through RMB Lawyers Warilla,” she said.
RMB Lawyers Warilla office will deliver the full scope of RMB’s services including compensation, family law, conveyancing, town planning, business transactions, dispute resolution and criminal law.
