A driver at the beach pulled over, and allegedly punched the traffic controller while he was working to ease the gridlock at 8.15am on Saturday.

The 23-year-old driver spoke to police, and no charges were laid.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the altercation to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Meanwhile, Shoalhaven City Councillor Mitchell Pakes condemned the attack at the council meeting on Tuesday night.

“There was some very antisocial behaviour in the village over the weekend,” he said.

“Police were called out and intervened.”

He used the incident to draw attention to the need for a more permanent solution at Hyams Beach.

Cr John Wells encouraged council to call on other tiers of government to help ease the problem.

“What was delivered this Easter was really a bare bones response,” Cr Wells said.

“If we need a massive car park somewhere it will be very difficult to achieve without advocacy from a state or federal member.”

Cr Kaye Gartner said Vincentia residents were also subject to antisocial behaviour this Easter.

“There were four-day bucks parties in Vincentia,” she said.

“In peak season it can become a very unpleasant place for those of us who live here.”
