A Wollongong father attacked his son's killer with a garden stake seconds after the bikie was gunned down in his front yard, a Sydney court has heard.

Matthew Paul Wiggins is accused of fatally shooting Comancheros gang member Darko Janceski outside his parent's home in Berkeley six years ago.
The 29-year-old has pleaded not guilty to murdering Mr Janceski, 32, and causing grievous bodily harm to his father, Slobodan Janceski, in April 2012.
Wiggins rode past the family's Berkeley home on a motorcycle where Darko Janceski was working on a car and shot him three times with a semi-automatic pistol, crown prosecutor Pat Barrett said in his opening address in the NSW Supreme Court.
"This shooting took place in broad daylight," he said on Tuesday.
Slobodan Janceski ran outside to his son's aid and lunged at Wiggins - a mixed martial arts fighter - who was "stronger, faster and fitter" than him, the court heard.
"In an endeavour to protect his son, he picked up a metal garden stake and took off after the assailant," Mr Barrett said.
Slobodan knocked Wiggin's helmet and sunglasses off but, as the pair wrestled, the skilled fighter broke the father's nose and fractured his jaw and eye socket before riding off, the prosecutor said.
The court has heard Wiggins carried out the execution to avenge his murdered friend, Goran Nikolovski, who had run an extortion racket in the Illawarra region with Darko Janceski.
Darko was rumoured to be involved with his disappearance and is suspected of lighting a fire at his own home to destroy evidence, Mr Barrett said.
Darko had survived a similar shooting attempt on his life less than three months before he died. He stayed at his parent's house after being released from hospital.
The Crown will draw on telephone intercepts, CCTV footage and DNA found on the motorcyclist's helmet and sunglasses that had the same profile as Wiggins.
Defence barrister David Doltone SC said Darko's murderer was wearing a balaclava underneath his helmet and no one has been able to identify him.
"The crown case is flawed," he said.
Mr Doltone noted other people's DNA and fingerprints were found on the helmet and added Darko's extortion business meant plenty of people could dislike him.
"Yes, Mr Wiggins, who is close friends of Goran Nikolovski, was very upset about (his death)," he said.
"That doesn't provide someone with a motive to kill."
