The Hawks announced Ogilvy had decided to stay on Thursday afternoon as the remainder of Illawarra’s roster prepare to dive head first into free agency next week.
Ogilvy was the only member of the squad with a player option. He battled injury throughout last season, but voiced his excitement to stay at the club.
“The vision that [owner Simon Stratford] has for the direction of the club is something that I want to be a part of,” he said. “Bringing in someone as highly respected as Mat Campbell as the General Manager is another reason I wanted to remain here."
Campbell was keen to see Ogilvy return to his best next season.
“When healthy AJ is the best big man in the game," Campbell said. "Having him on board is a key piece to our player puzzle and one we will now look to build around."
