Michelle Ritchie’s dream to have a third consecutive contender in the Provincial Championships final came to a disappointing end when she was forced to scratch Can’t Find Snippy during the week.
Can’t Find Snippy had a foot abscess break out in the lead-up to the $500,000 feature at Royal Randwick and the Kembla trainer made the decision to abandon plans to race after consulting a veterinarian.
“It’s rotten luck and it’s disappointing, but that is racing I suppose,” Ritchie said.
“She is just really too tender on it. She is fine in her work. I can’t really fault her working on it but walking and trotting at home she is not happy on it.
“The vet looked at her this morning and we both came to the conclusion that we shouldn’t start her.”
Can’t Find Snippy finished third in the Gosford heat to qualify for the final.
Ritchie’s stable star Better Not Blue finished runner-up behind Maryore in the decider last year.
