Earlier: A search is underway for a boat believed blown several kilometres out to sea with two men on board, off the coast of Stanwell Park.
From the shore, a man spotted the boat an estimated two kilometres off-shore about 3pm.
He raised the alarm after noticing the boat was leaving no wake, and believed there were two males on board, said Marine Rescue NSW radio operator Ken Breeze.
“Just by chance, he was having a look over the water with his binoculars and he spotted the guys on the boat,” Mr Breeze told the Mercury, at 3.45pm.
“They appeared to be out in the wind, being blown along.
“It's pretty windy out there and there's a lot of chop around.
“We’ve got two [search] vessels on their way out there.”
The presumed missing vessel was described as an open top fishing boat.
More to come.
