After suffering their first defeat of the season last weekend to Wollongong Olympic, the Foxes bounced back with a gutsy win on home soil.
Two goals in the final 10 minutes from Shinsei Tanaka provided Fernhill with their third victory of the campaign.
“I am very happy with our start to the season,” Fernhill coach Bruce Tilt said.
“We came home like a train and we certainly don’t sit down when we have a lead.”
United’s Mate Nimac and Oli Carrasco both hit the back of the net while Yusuke Murayama scored the Foxes’ first.
Fernhill have their biggest test against ladder leaders Bulli next weekend.
In Sunday’s other game Corrimal Rangers drew 0-0 with Albion Park White Eagles.
