As Australia’s top ranked player, Barty will play a crucial role in this weekend’s Fed Cup tie and Dokic is confident the 21-year-old will do the job for her country.
“Ash is obviously doing great since her comeback,” Dokic said. “I have commentated a lot of her matches, she was showing great signs as soon as she came back form that break and she’s been playing amazing tennis.”
Dokic has backed Barty to continue her rankings rise, believing she has the talent and versatility to achieve a top 10 ranking.
“I think she’s really matured. Her game was always good, she has a great serve, great forehand, she can come to the net. I always saw great potential, it’s great she’s got more maturity and confidence now.
“Her game is a game that can definitely be in the top 10. She has that aggressive style and can also mix her play up which is great.”
