Jamie Adam Wall is accused of holding his girlfriend of three weeks against her will inside his caravan while subjecting her to repeated assaults just months after being released from jail for similar offences against his previous partner.

A statement of facts tendered to Wollongong Local Court on Monday said the woman started seeing Wall about three weeks ago and began staying in his caravan a week later.

However, she told police Wall had become controlling in the past week, not allowing her access to her phone, keys or debit card.

The court heard the woman’s mother rang her on Sunday asking if she was okay. She said she began to cry on the phone, allegedly prompting Wall to take it off her and hang up.

He then said “you’d better call you mum back and tell her everything is okay or I will kill you”, police allege.

The woman did as ordered, however her mother, fearing something was wrong, contacted police and drove out to the caravan park.

Officers arrived at the scene to discover Wall inside his premises with the woman, who they described as “emotional, crying and shaking”. She had bruises to her wrists, arms and legs, police said.

The woman told officers she had tried to leave again that morning but that Wall had thrown her onto the bed, climbed on top of her and tried to strangle her.

Wall was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with kidnapping and assault offences.

In court on Monday, police labelled Wall a “recidivist domestic violence offender” and claimed he has no respect for the court system.

“The accused has a history of violence especially in the confines of his relationships,” arresting police said court documents.

Magistrate Michael Stoddart rejected Wall’s bail application and adjourned his case to June 13.
