Those lucky enough to hit the water later last week still found plenty of marlin about around places such as Bandit and Wollongong reefs with fish up to the 100kg mark.
A couple of the bigger boats headed out in search of yellowfin tuna that have been popping up at random and some crews found tuna between 30 and 50 kilos.
Several topped off their catch with a few denizens from the deep including blue eye cod and gemfish.
Last week before the blow, the inshore reefs held some good snapper with shop customers finding fish in the shallows up to 4kg along with plenty of good sized trevally and sampson fish.
Seeing the current has slackened off a fair bit, their most successfully method was to anchor up and run out a steady berley trail to lure them closer to the boat.
There were some good sized kings and bonito around the Port Islands.
The never fail method of slow trolled or down rigged squid were their undoing.
Plenty of dolphin fish still about and they keep turning up in the weirdest of places.
A couple of fishos drifting for a feed of flathead off Port Kembla beach ran into a school of dollies with quite a few legal fish mixed in with the smaller ones.
All the flathead drifts have been producing good sized fish at present with very few reports of the horrible green toads, which is always a welcome event to report.
With school holidays upon us why not get the kids out of the house and take them for a fish.
Speaking of this, a shop regular reported there were plenty of good sized garfish in the harbour at Wollongong which is a great and safe place for the kids to get out and try their hand at fishing.
The lake also has been fishing well at the moment with plenty of whiting, bream and flathead about.
