A total of 32 boats and 108 anglers competed for 18 categories in capture division and tag and release division.
First up, humble public acknowledgement and thanks to Yatcon Civil who generously donated a cash prize of $5000 for the tournament’s heaviest marlin.
Final results saw 19 marlin tagged and released, with an estimate of triple of that amount that didn’t make it to the boat. Unfortunately for some anglers, several big blues and blacks were lost at the boat however skipper Steve Banks fished with David Dean who successfully landed his blue of 141.5kg to take out the heaviest marlin capture award.
Heaviest tuna was a yellowfin of 54.8kgs on 24kg line for Nick Sergi and the tournament’s heaviest other gamefish was a big dolly of 12kg on 10kg line for Tracey Vaartjes. Heaviest shark was a 251kilo whaler on 15kg line for Mark O’Donoghue.
Champion boat capture was Reckless on 5760 points and tag boat was 2small with 50,700 points.
NSWGFA Junior team fished in the tournament with Grahame Williams NSWGFA Treasurer, who fished off Nemo and came away winning Champion Junior Angler Tag and Release for Ryan Kaczorowski and most OGF t/r boat with 17 dorado.
