‘Idleacres’ is located at 161 Avondale Colliery Road, Avondale.
‘Idleacres’ is 13-plus acres and perched above the under construction, billion-dollar golf course and resort bearing Greg Norman’s name.
The property will be auctioned on May 7.
“There’s been a lot of interest – it’s quite a special property,” selling agent, Melinda Budd from Ray White Kiama said.
Ms Budd said it was difficult to determine a price guide at this stage.
“There’s only been a few sales along that private estate, and there’s no recent sales to compare it to,” she said.
A decade-old plan to build a Norman-designed 18-hole course remained at the centre of the redevelopment.
The golf course and some of the planned housing subdivision have already gained planning approval.
“The golf resort is being constructed and the property is just at the foothill… It’s not quite halfway up the mountain,” Ms Budd told the Mercury.
“The capital growth is going to be huge. Recently completed, this home offers something for everyone.
“It really takes advantage of the gorgeous area it sits in. It looks out over nature; it’s just absolutely beautiful up there and lots of wildlife.
“It’s pristine.”
There is also a separate shed that is decked out as a five-bedroom home complete with its very own kitchen and bathroom.
“They actually built that and lived in it for quite a while until they built the other house,” Ms Budd said.
Craig and Nicole MacDonald bought the property about 15 years ago.
Mr MacDonald said they are selling due to plans to travel, as well as their need for a “life change”.
“It’s going to be hard to let it go,” he laughed.
“I haven’t had neighbours for so long… To move back into suburbia is going to be really hard.
“But we’ve got to a point in our lives where we need to take a different direction.”
