Stop selling our land
It beggars belief that an article (Public parks to be sold off, Saturday April 07, 2018), describing council as "continuing to rid the city of 'surplus' public land" DONATED to it decades ago, appears just pages away from Web Words calling for it "to act over Wollongong's growing 'homelessness crisis'"!

This COMMUNITY land could be made "operational" by helping to house Wollongong's share of the 116,427 homeless people nationally, 34% in NSW, but instead, aside from Mithra Cox and Cath Blakely, council chooses to allow PRIVATE developers to cash in on the 117% rise in the NSW mean price of housing 2011-2016 (ABS 2016 Census). Has council no humanity? Stop selling off OUR land!

When will they learn?
Why do we wonder about climate change when we have neighbours that do not utilise nature to cool their homes but insist on air conditioners?
A beautiful 22 degree evening, not hot, but the neighbour feels the need to pump hot air into the environment to cool their house. Young children are not learning about sustainability or the consequences of their parents actions and they are the ones who ultimately will pay the price of their parents destroying their future.
A environmentally disastrous law that should never had been allowed. Not only are they destroying the planet they make their neighbours cope with the noise and the heat while they selfishly cool themselves. When will we learn? Not while the NSW Government allows this to happen.

Action trumps inaction
Local governments are taking action on global warming. Instead of building prisons on vacant land they are building solar energy plants. It is at the local level that a culture is determined.
Replacing dirty coal by clean renewable energy involves the community who support the urgent need to save the world for future generations. Action from below trumps inaction from above.
The economic advantage is it employs unused space to install solar panels. The house roof tops and high rise buildings become the new energy source. A council plan is needed.
Community involvement is needed to shape a future that the new technology is rapidly changing.

Is this a better deal?
Let's see if I've got this right. We've been told the new cricket broadcast deal will provide better coverage of the game.
No one day international game will be shown on free to air TV, nor will any T20 internationals and there will be 16 BBL games shown only on Pay TV.
This equates to the same raw deal given to followers of the Supercars series, few live free to air races.
If this is a better deal, then as that old saying goes, I'm a monkey's uncle.

Traffic light troubles
Is there anyone from the RMS Traffic who can explain why that there are 4 sets of Traffic Lights from Towradgi Road to Bellambi Lane and that there are 3 different controls.
Why wasn't Bellambi Lane programmed the same as Railway & Rothery Roads?
While travelling West from Bellambi Lane and the cars in front are turning left onto Memorial drive, if there are pedestrians crossing you don't make it across.
If this intersection was the same as Rothery and Railway there wouldn't be a problem.
Everyone would have a chance to move. The West side goes first and then the East side. Do the people who make these decisions actually drive on these roads or is it some "Biro Pilot" in an Office in Sydney?
