The five-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 173 Lawrence Hargrave Drive has been sold for $1,880,000, four days after being listed. According to Domain Group data it last changed hands in 1995 for $250,000.
The tired corrugated iron and tile roof with its haphazard room added onto the top of the garage welcomes motorists as they turn the bend. The dated exterior now looking out-of-place amongst the new and updated multimillion-dollar residences popping up around it.

People have been sharing memories of the house on the Thirroul History in Photos Facebook page, remembering a previous owner Jack Love and retro cars parked out the front.
“We lived there back in 1968. Great view in the back yard,” wrote Lorraine Williams, who said the garage add-on was built in the mid-1960s.
“The black and gold Trans-ams sitting out the front in the 80’s,” posted Karina Padewski.
While others commented they were happy to see the “eyesore” go.
The 900 square metre block has a 40 metre frontage to the road on one side and the ocean on the other.
