Illawarra On Pointe Productions’ community orchestra (Young On Pointe) is inviting any musician with portable instruments to join the revolution for a free concert paying tribute to Star Wars on May 4, 6pm.
“I’m a pretty big Star Wars fan which is one reason it’s going ahead,” conductor Ryley Gillen said.
“It’s just rock up and play – there’s no fees, no booking or anything, just an opportunity for the community to collaborate in a musical environment.”
Gillen said all the highlights from the science-fiction films would be performed including the opening theme, Darth Vader’s theme, Yoda’s theme and “the love theme”.
“There’s some pretty saucy music,” he said.
The orchestra welcomes musicians of any age and will meet for a one-off rehearsal at 6pm on May 2 – at the City of Wollongong Brass Band Hall at 3 Ellen Street, Wollongong.
