Three teens believed aged as young as 13 assaulted a 19-year-old man and robbed him of his phone on Burelli St about 8.15pm. The man gave chase on Crown St but walked away empty-handed after one of the teens threatened to produce a knife, said Wollongong acting inspector Dave Parker
The first youth is described as being aged between 14 and 16, of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall with a thin build, and curly brown ear-length hair. The teen had numerous pimples on his face and he was wearing a blue baseball cap at the time.
The second youth is described as being aged between 13 and 14, of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 165cm tall with an athletic build, and short, curly brown hair.
The third youth is described only as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, with a small build and short black hair; he was said to be shorter than the other youths.
The assault came about three hours after a 44-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed of her handbag on Mangerton Road. The woman sustained minor injuries including scratches to her face and hand as a result of the assault.
Police believe a woman of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance with a medium build and dark hair worn in a ponytail, can help with their investigation. At the time she was wearing a pink long-sleeved shirt and grey track pants.
