The Property Council of Australia has appointed Michelle Guido as regional director for the Illawarra.
Ms Guido, who grew up in and lives in the Illawarra, formerly worked at Sydney Water, where she spent eight years operating within corporate public affairs.
The 31-year-old said she recognised plenty of potential in the Illawarra.
“I love this region – I live here, I’m from here and I think it has a lot to offer,” she said.
“I also think there’s a lot of growth that’s happening in this region.
“I think this role is really important for that, and prospering that growth in the region.
“The property industry is one of the biggest industries across Australia. It covers retail, commercial and residential, so there’s a lot of different sectors.
“But for this region specifically housing affordability obviously is one of the biggest issues facing the industry.”
Therefore, Ms Guido said there would be a focus on working with stakeholders and all levels of government to be able to provide, “the choice of housing, diverse housing, and developing long-term strategies for housing within the region”.
“Another issue is how do we prosper growth, how do we ensure there’s the delivery of infrastructure down here, and really making sure that we are connecting to western Sydney,” she said.
