The Team Australia celebrations will begin at noon on Friday when about 50, mostly local, athletes feature in the parade, which starts at the top of Queen St Mall.

It will be headlined by teenage swimming sensation Ariarne Titmus, who won three gold and one silver on the Gold Coast, and inspirational para-sports great Kurt Fearnley.

As well as Fearnley and 17-year-old Titmus, who won three gold medals and one silver, race walker Dane Bird-Smith and marathon runner Michael Shelley will be Commonwealth champions applauded for their efforts.

Those fans attending the parade have been urged to dress in green and gold for the occasion.

Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk will hand the Keys of the City to Fearnley, the Australian flag-bearer, who will receive them on behalf of the team.

Mr Quirk says it will be a chance to celebrate the efforts of Australia's Commonwealth Games team.

An Australian team spokesman said they are hopeful of a good turn out, with an opportunity for athletes to also thank fans for support.

Parades will be staged around Australia featuring local athletes and gold medallists in every state and territory until next Friday.
