Sharing its postcode with the better known suburb of Dapto, it has stepped out from the shadow of its surrounds with its own character and identity stemming from its rich coal mining and dairy farming history.
Flowing on from it’s past, there still remains a number of grazing paddocks set amongst expansive semi-rural style blocks with homesteads giving view to Lake Illawarra and even out to the ocean.
Wongawilli is quietly positioned between coast and country and is a prospering village with a difference.
Subdivision has taken place through this area with a number of land estates providing traditional house and land packages.

Vista Park at Wongawilli developed by Sheargold Property Developments comprises detailed design features, guidelines to encourage Australian colonial architecture as well as high levels of sustainability through the EnviroDevelopment certification – the first project in NSW to receive full honours.
In true commitment to its roots, the project features a number of heritage-listed items with the fully refurbished Coral Vale Homestead brought back to life and used as the Sales & Information Centre.
Wongawilli’s mining history will also be on display soon with a parkland set to open in the next few weeks featuring restored artefacts from the nearby mine. These historic items will be on permanent display throughout the park.
Vista Park features over 400 home sites in total broken down into three distinct communities, each with their own offering and character. The Grove is sold out and comprises of over 110 homes at various stages of construction, The Ridge is finishing its final stage now with 70 huge semi-rural home sites with a handful of home sites left, and The Vale will begin later this year and will see a further 200+ home sites being made available.
With a mix of existing homes and vacant land to build on, the pricing is varied at Wongawilli. Recent sales in the area for a new four-bedroom home range around $800,000 whilst vacant land of 450sqm in size ranges from $360,000 to around $500,000 depending on the quality of development. The large semi-rural vacant home sites range from $695,000 to $850,000 thanks to their rarity, with some featuring over 15,000sqm to play with!
The west-Dapto growth corridor that Wongawilli sits in has unsurprisingly been one of the strongest growing areas in all of the Illawarra, most notably in the last five years. Thanks to strong investment to provide much needed housing supply, this trend is likely to continue.
