My grandparents chose this as their last resting place 53 years ago and they asked that their service be in the chapel and ashes placed in the gardens.

Over the past 40 years I have purchased eight sites of which five have now been taken up.

As Council will not replace the furnaces no doubt the ratepayer will be up for additional charges especially those who own sites and have their loved ones already there.

Chapel services were always appreciated as it gives you a chance to visit your loved ones already in the gardens.

No doubt if anyone chooses to have a chapel services there will be additional charge for delivery to an outside crematorium and a charge for delivering the ashes back for placement placing additional costs onto families.

Some years ago council proposed the takeover of the crematorium by an outside organisation.

So I ask what else has council in mind for the near future especially when you think that all that will be left will be the administration side of the operations which only occupies about one fifth of the building.

The documents that I have state that council will maintain the operations in perpetuity.

I do not think I want to sit and wait for the next chapter from council.  

After the last effort by council I suspect in the near future council will shut down the operations and relocate the staff elsewhere.

I do not feel like waiting for that to happen I feel I should collect my families ashes and then scatter them in a peaceful place and at the same time request a full refund of all monies already paid to WCC over the years.  

This is a serious letdown especially for those ratepayers who thought that future funerals at Wollongong Memorial Gardens would be undertaken as they had in the past.

I hope you saw the Jenny Brockie Insight show this week on SBS?

It featured students from Joeseph Banks High School showing the results an intelligent individual approach to students assesment and problems and focus on students needs.

The inspiring example of these students and teachers beg the question why isn't this model adopted at all schools?

How is it that people can break the law every single day and nothing is done about it?

Why is it that every day for over a year now certain local people are waking us up at 6 am with dogs off leads at the waterfront reserve at Orient Point near Orama Crescent?

Dogs barking as they bound about doing what comes naturally.

Owners calling, whistling and making a general nuisance of themselves and then not picking up after the dogs at all. To add insult to injury they sit under the new council sign prohibiting this activity.

Why can they do this day after day every day and not be fined or moved on like everyone else would be despite residents constantly advising council and sending photographic evidence to them?

Why is it that still nobody from council will investigate, caution, fine or prosecute?

The same people are doing this every day because they blatantly say the rangers are useless and they regard the wider community with contempt.

The question is what else is going on in the Shoalhaven that the council is ignoring and where else are they failing to enforce standing rules, regulations and laws?
