Battling strong westerly winds he and the other fundraisers on the track all took the philosophy that the pain they were experiencing riding in such challenging weather conditions was nothing compared to what kids with cancer have to go through.
“Overall, from the timekeeping results on the day, it looks as though our team MMJ #kickingcancersbutt clocked close to 950km on the bike, with myself personally hitting around the 100km mark,” he said.
“I would like to personally thank Les, Anthony, Ben, Jarrod and Andrew for joining me on the ride, and sweating it out in the fight against kids cancer.”
With the support of so many sponsors and donors the team raised $25,000.
“This means, for this event over the last two years, I have personally raised just shy of $50,000 in donations for this wonderful and inspirational organisation. And our team MMJ #kickingcancersbutt has collectively raising almost $63,000. Many know how passionate I am when it comes to the fight against childhood cancer, and speaking out about my family's personal experiences and fundraising where I can, is just one way I know I can help out. But the generosity shown yet again by the Illawarra community literally brought tears to my eyes after the event,” Mr Rollinson said.
“Happy tears that is. When I think about my own kids, and to know that this money is going towards an organisation that exists solely to put an end to childhood cancer, words cannot explain how appreciative I am for all the support.”
