Ms Chen, 21, was selected from an impressive pool of entries that include some of the finest young musicians in the country today.
Typical recipients of the YPA national competition – which is presented biennially – are those who are poised to have an exceptional career in music at the highest level.
Throughout the competition they will gain significant performing experience as well as necessary exposure and financial help to advance their careers through performing opportunities and monetary prizes.
Ms Chen began attending classes at Wollongong Con at the age of eight where she learnt violin and piano.
She will perform a recital as part of the competition at Sydney’s City Recital Hall on July 16.
