Owners of Crooked River Wines will have their own “Winter Wine Festival” on the June long weekend with live music, gourmet cuisine plus craft beer and wine.
It comes as the region’s event (which would draw 10,000 patrons) was cancelled in March after organisers would not be able to meet requirements from NSW Police, Liquor and Gaming NSW and Roads and Maritime Services in time.
Crooked River’s Godwin "Goody" Felice said they were expecting 4,500 people to attend, with direct economic benefits to the Illawarra from out-of-towners staying in the region.
“We did our homework and it worked out good,” Mr Felice said in regards to incorporating their own traffic management and security plans.
There’s also wine tasting at Roselea Vineyard (Gerringong) while Mountain Ridge Wines (Coolangatta) is putting on live music as well to go with their wine tasting.
Other wineries in the region will also be open across June 9 to 11.
