The artist has spent a good part of the last six months creating dozens of works for the exhibition on now at the Tank Stream Hotel on Pitt Street.

“People are coming to see a major event in a major city, and coming from the South Coast I think I bring a different flavour with my artwork,” she said.

Hotel manager Klaus Kinateder – a Lake Illawarra resident – Asquith was the perfect fit for their first art exhibition because of her unique way of incorporating dance, music and light into her work.

The colourful works predominantly focus around water, one of Asquith’s favourite subjects because it “has so many moods”.

“What I love about the water is a sensory thing … but there's also a feeling of risk when it’s wild and feeling of stillness when you’re under water,” she said.

“Almost everything here created specifically to represent what I do naturally and to tie into the Vivid Festival.”

Viva La Vivid, Tank Stream Hotel, 97 Pitt Street Sydney, until Saturday June 16.
