SCARF Champions of Welcome are a group of ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
A high tea, a 24 hour cycling challenge and a children’s read-a-thon are just three of the activities they are taking on this year.
In June and July the friends of the non-profit organisation are doing even more to spread the message of welcome the Strategic Community Assistance to Refugee Families was founded on.
The Champions of Welcome are also champions of compassion. As well as fundraising they have positive conversations about refugees in the community. In doing so they are helping change the refugee narrative in the Illawarra and Australia.
Fundraising manager Ainslie Tweedie said members of the public can also support or set up their own Champions event via everydayhero.
