A utility driver has been charged after a man died in a multi-vehicle crash at Lucas Heights on Friday night.

Police were told an Isuzu D-Max utility and a Toyota Echo were both travelling west on New Illawarra Road when they crashed about 4pm.
”Police will allege due to the impact of the crash, the Echo was forced into oncoming traffic and collided with a Mitsubishi Lancer,” a police spokesman said.
He said the Lancer, a Toyota Camry and a Honda CRV then collided.
A 66-year-old Revesby man driving the Echo suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
A 54-year-old woman, from Burraneer, driving the Mitsubishi Lancer, was treated at the scene for minor injuries by paramedics before being taken to St George Hospital.
A 33-year-old man driving the utility, a 19-year-old Engadine man who was driving the CRV, and a 33-year-old Figtree man who was driving the Camry, were not injured and were taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
The utility, the Echo and Camry have been seized and will be examined by specialist police,
“Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit later arrested the utility driver and took him to Sutherland Police Station where he has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, and negligent driving occasioning death,” the police spokesman said.
“The man, from Holsworthy, was granted conditional bail and will appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday June 28.
On Friday morning the state government announced a $173 million funding pledge to fix Heathcote Road.
The Woronora River Bridge at Engadine will still only have one lane in each direction under the plans but the lanes will be widened.
The plans include duplicating 2.2 kilometres of the road between Infantry Parade and The Avenue at Holsworthy.
