Wiseman Park can look forward to the State women’s pennant finals with confidence after winning the Illawarra Grade 2 flag in decisive fashion this season.

The Wiseman Park team was the dominant team in 2018, finishing 20 points clear of second-placed Kiama after the 14-round competition.

Wiseman Park went on to qualify for the State Finals as Illawarra District champions given that there was no regional Playoff against a Southern Highlands opponent in Grade 2.

With 11 wins from 12 games, the Gwynneville-based club can be confident of a positive showing against the other District/Association Grade 2 champions at the State Finals in August.

The Wiseman Park team includes Canadian international Leanne Chinery who skipped a rink with partners Helen Garbutt, Beverly Patton and Judith Whittaker. Robyn Humphries skipped the other rink with partners Margaret Lorenz, Helen Hallenan and Christine Speers.

It has been a great season for the Illawarra District Women Bowls Association with all four grades qualifying for the prestigious State Finals on the Central Coast.

Warilla will represent Illawarra in Grade 1 and Grade 3, with Towradgi winning Grade 4. Both clubs won their Regional Playoff finals at Bargo BC in May.
