Next week the The Illawarra Grammar School student will head to Spain and Italy to compete in a number of lyrical dance competitions including the Dance World Cup in Spain. As well as being part of Dancerpalooza in the US.
“This is the first time Australia’s going,” mum Belinda Kinnear said. “The other countries are all wearing their national costumes … so we’ve got our Acubras and our jackets.”
Isobel will also perform in the World Dance Movement International Festival as a result of winning Teen Dance of the Year at the Showcase Nationals (her second national title) in January.
Most of the trip falls during school holidays though two weeks will see her out of school. Mrs Kinnear said her teachers are fine with it as she is so dedicated and still achieves top marks.
It’s the teenager’s dream to turn professional, though is happy to take on other opportunities that arise from that such as acting or modelling.
