Addison Street, at the intersection with Shellharbour Road, is temporarily closed to enable the next phase of Harbour Boulevard construction.
The temporary road closure commenced on Tuesday, and according to parents is reportedly already causing traffic chaos during peak times around nearby schools, Stella Maris Catholic Primary School and Shellharbour Public School.
Interim traffic arrangements are in place with access to Shellharbour Village via Mary Street.
“We expect this section of Addison Street to be closed for approximately two months,” a post on the Frasers Property website says.
“The increased traffic volumes on Mary Street are causing some additional congestion in this area as we expected.
“We have worked closely with Roads and Maritime Services who control the Mary Street/Shellharbour Road intersection.
“RMS have made the necessary modifications to phasing of traffic lights at this intersection so that traffic flow in and out of Shellharbour Village is optimised, particularly during the morning and afternoon peaks.
“RMS will continue to monitor the intersection performance on a daily basis and will make further improvements to the traffic light phasing as required.”
