It is the first time someone has won the prestigious award three times.
Mister Minit’s Australia and South East Asia chief executive Mark Rusbatch said being named Franchisee of the Year meant an operator had met a rigorous set of criteria.
That includes their contribution to the overall system including adding value to other fellow franchisees, investment in their team and development in themselves. Proactive involvement in their local community and meeting Mister Minit’s core values are also considered.
“Ben is certainly no stranger when it comes to being on the receiving end of awards,” Mr Rusbatch said.
Mr Curran’s franchising journey started eight years ago. Since then he has won The Mister Minit Leadership Award in 2014 and earned a spot in Mister Minit Masters Club six times.
To do that stores have to rank in the top quartile over 12 month period. Mr Curran has three stores continuously ranked in the top quartile.
Mister Minit also offers opportunities for franchisees to learn from overseas counterparts.
In 2014 Mr Curran won the internal scholarship to Japan and in 2016 the Italian scholarship.
“Ben has been the only frontline team member to be awarded the Italian scholarship, which has typically been reserved for leadership positions within the support office,” Ms Rusbatch said.
Mr Curran was also a national finalist for the Franchise Council of Australia’s Franchisee of the Year Award in 2014.
“Ben embodies the very essence of the Mister Minit brand and its core values each and every day,” Mr Rusbatch said.
“This is evident in his strong and passionate team of eight. His team take great pride in serving our customers, and ensuring their problems are fixed to the highest of quality. He is highly regarded in our own franchise network.”
