The pass will be closed from 9am to 3pm on both days.
Work was originally scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday but was moved back due to heavy rain.
The maintenance work will include clearing the drains, drilling to inspect underneath the road, inspecting the road surface for faults and impending problems, maintaining vegetation including inspecting and pruning trees, controlling weeds, cleaning and fixing signs and collecting litter.
Walking tracks around Macquarie Pass will not be affected by the closure, however hikers will not be able to access the pass.
Detours for light vehicles will be via Jamberoo Mountain Road. while heavy vehicles will need to use the Hume Highway, Picton Road and the Princes Highway.
Light vehicle drivers will need to allow 10 minutes of additional travel time, while truck drivers will need to allow 20 minutes.
