This Thursday he cannot but is aware this is one of the coldest winters in a long time.
Mr Apolloni still wants to help raise funds for homeless people in the Illawarra.
He knows the need for warm blankets and food in the region is greater than ever. And is encouraging the community to help those involved in sleepout at St Mary’s Star of the Sea college on Thursday to raise funds.
He said one way people can do that is donate to other participants such as Graham Lancaster, of Lancaster Law and Mediation.
“When you snuggle into your warm bed tonight spare a thought for those who have no home, let alone a bed,” Mr Apolloni said.
“Homelessness in the Illawarra, NSW, and all over Australia is a real problem. As a business owner I know business is still tough and money is tight, but to give when it hurts you too is truly giving from the heart with passion.”
St Vincent de Paul Society’s Wollongong Diocesan Central Council executive officer Peter Quarmby said more than 30 chief executive had already signed on for the 2018 Sleepout. And they have already raised more than $110,000.
Mr Quarmby said the Wollongong event always had wonderful support from business leaders. Which was good because the need is great in the Illawarra region.
Others taking part this Thursday night include Roy Rogers, of the Flagstaff Group, Michelle Adair, of the Housing Trust, Kim Capp, of South Coast Private Hospital, and St Vincent de Paul Society Homelessness and Mental Health Southern Region manager Eloise Andon.
