GOD BLESS YOU ALL
It was late on Sunday arvo just a week or so ago when my heart, which had a dicky vein, decided not to flow.

Well I can tell you that my vitals were 198 over 94.
And I tell you I was much relieved when the ambos walked in the door.
“G’day” says Brien.
“This here is Mark and Jess is at the door.”
Just then my pain went off the clock and I wake up on the floor.
It's Brien whom I see when I wake and he tells me I'm in strife.
He assures me that his team will do all they can to save my life.
And so they set about to save my wretched ugly neck.
And Brien gives me the good news … “Mmate! you've smoked yer last cigarette”.
God bless you people for all you did … you all know who you are.
I'll never forget what you did for me and I’ll sing it near and far.

GOING UP THE GARDEN PATH
The vision of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (Illawarra Mercury, June 13, 2018) has merit in believing that better connection to Western Sydney from the Illawarra would benefit both areas.
However the concept that councils in that corridor should be promoting high density housing to be approved by Private Certifiers reveals the true aim of this developer-funded institute.
The claim that people would prefer to live in a development with up to four small dwellings occupying the same land area as a traditional house lot is an anathema to the Australian way of life.
Whilst it may have some small effect on housing affordability the only winners would be developers, investors and council rates income.
The obvious inability of our governors, at all levels, to provide adequate road, rail and public transport infrastructure would be exacerbated and lead to a further decline in the current living amenity of the Illawarra.

URGENT CALL FOR VOLUNTEEERS
The Leukaemia Foundation is urgently calling for volunteer drivers in Illawara area to help transport people living with blood cancer to vital medical appointments.
The Leukaemia Foundation’s much loved patient transport service has been providing people with free transport for more than two decades.
It provides more than 38,000 patient trips each year and last year travelled more the 1,557,779 kilometres… the equivalent of traveling more than 38 times around the world.
Sadly, we currently have limited volunteers available and therefore many people living with blood cancers in the local area are either not able to access the transport service or are on long wait lists.
Illawara area residents can help us to continue this vital community service by providing just a few short hours of their time per week, fortnight or per month.
Your free time will make a real difference in the day of a person living with blood cancer. To find out more, please contact 1800 620 420.
