Barry Paull is a retired Citos’ treasurer and 25-year committeeman who since 2015 has been honoured with a tournament in his name.
The $2500 event features four 10-end games of 4 Bowls Pairs, with $800 to the winning team and prizes to sixth place, plus individual game prizes.
The handicap-style entry requirement of the combined pennant gradings for each team reaching six or higher ensures all teams have a chance of winning.
The entry list includes Engadine’s Peter Hughes, Corrimal’s Phil Reynolds, Paul and Barry Peters from Warilla and a strong contingent from the host club including reigning South Pacific singles champion Dylan Skinner, plus Andrew Lynn, Chris Green and club boss Shaun Parnis.
Final entries are still being accepted through Citos bowls coordinator Matt Miles, while entries can also be lodged for the upcoming Jono and Mick Bickerdike Memorial Pairs on July 16.
Each year Citos run an event to mark the death of the club’s promising teenage bowler Jono Bickerdike, while his father Mick was also a member and passed away in 2013.
The popular tournament carries $2500 prizemoney and always features a top-class field of bowlers from across Zone 16.
