The school in West Wollongong was a finalist in two categories in the awards presented by Riverside Theatres.
Edmund Rice College won the Best Esnemble Award for Playground Politics.
The production about the evils of sugar, playground politics and an exploration of WW1 through the eyes of children was written by local students Benjamin Hunter and Jet Heferen who also directed the play.
The other Edmund Rice production to make the finals was The White Devil.
Sharp Short Theatre is a short play competition for writers, directors and performers who are 18 years and under.
All plays must be 10 minutes or less in durations, and written, performed and directed by people aged 18 years or younger.
The youth arts initiative is focused on promoting the works of students in theatre.
The festival’s aim is to unearth and cultivate the next generation of Australia theatre professionals.
