Seven years later, they combined to steer NSW to a historic win in the first ever Women's State of Origin match, 16-10 at North Sydney Oval.

Bremner revealed this week, that Blues skipper Studdon was the first call she made when trying to the then fledgling Illawarra Women's League off the ground.

Their bond looked telepathic on Friday night, with the pair combining for to lay on two of the Blues three tries in a thrilling win.

Bremner also opened the gate for Isabelle Kelly's match-winner with a weaving run five minutes from fulltime on a great night for the Blues left edge.

“We worked hard on each edge during the week,” Studdon told Channel Nine.

“Our middles always go hard for us and we knew our edges were quick and fast. Those girls did their job and that left side came up open.

“The Blues spirit always comes out. We've got to give credit to Queensland, it's one of the toughest games I've ever played.

“We worked for each other, we had our call and we knew we needed to work for each other and that's what we did.

The match-sealing effort was Kelly's second four-pointer, with Bremner providing the assist for the opening try of the match in the ninth minute.

Maroons skipper Karina Brown hit straight back four minutes later, with Brittany Breayley catching the Blues napping on a short blindside.

Chelsea Baker nailed the sideline conversion to level-up at 6-all before halftime.

The Blues left edge again came up trumps in the second stanza, with Bremner taking a massive bump to put Nakia Davis-Welsh across six minutes after the resumption.

Ali Brigginshaw sold the Blues defence on a huge dummy to put Brown across for her second try with 15 minutes to play, with Baker's attempted go-ahead conversion bouncing off the upright.

It left the scores locked at 10 apiece before Kelly's second sealed the deal for the Blues.
