The private workplace syndicate of seven people held the only division one winning entry last Wednesday.
The syndicate leader told NSW Lotteries he couldn’t believe it.
“Woohoo!” he exclaimed. “Our syndicate’s been going on for about 15 years. We’re work colleagues who ended up being friends.
“We usually win $12, $13 or $63. This is definitely the biggest prize we’ve won,” he said.
He hopes the syndicate members will have a chance to celebrate their win today with “some cake at work”.
But first, he needs to convince his disbelieving colleagues they’ve actually won.
“They don’t believe a word I told them. They’re all going to harass me this morning,” he laughed.
“They all thought I was lying and bulls--ting. I had to screenshot the screen and send a text message to them. They probably still don’t believe me.
“I’ve got an idea that for some of them it will help with their mortgage, while for others they might be thinking of a holiday.”
The syndicate bought the winning entry at Dapto Newsagency.
