The all ages show will close out the limited season of Yours and Owls’ Big Top concerts at the University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus.
Yours and Owls co-founder Ben Tillman said booking the six-piece was “just serendipitous” but worked well to coincide with UOW’s Open Day.
“We were on the hunt for something that appeals to a bit of a broader audience, as there’s also a younger audience there [for the open day],” Mr Tillman told the Mercury.
“The date was a little bit outside of their tour period but because it was something different and exciting it’s all come together pretty quickly.”
Their debut album Bombs Away peaked at number 2 on the ARIA albums chart in 2014 and was nominated for a slew of ARIA Awards.
While three weeks ago their follow up album Watching The Sky debuted at number 1, with singles like Riding The Wave being picked up across commercial radio networks.
In recent years Sheppard have also supported industry megastars like Robbie Williams and Justin Beiber.
The Big Top can house up to 3,200 patrons according to their development application to Wollongong Council.
Despite the room, it is still expected to be “busy”, Mr Tillman said, as tickets are priced low at $30 plus booking fee.
Presale tickets go on sale on Monday, general admission on Tuesday. For details visit: www.yoursandowls.com.au
The third and final Big Top show is set to be announced later next week, which is also expected to be an all ages event.
