One of the best passing guards in the NBL's 40-year history, Jackson led the New Zealand Breakers to three titles in each of his first three seasons with club.
He was grand final MVP in the Breakers 2013 and 2015 triumphs, while he also took them to a fourth grand final series in 2016.
Hawks coach Rob Beveridge said the 32-year-old, who was also league MVP in 2013, will bring a culture of success to Wollongong.
“Everywhere Cedric goes he wins,” Beveridge said.
“His competitive nature and his ability to make people around him better is going to be fantastic for our club.
“The fans are going to love watching the combination of arguably two of the best passing point-guards in Cedric and Emmett Naar and his teammates will love playing with such a winner.”
Along with his three titles, Jackson won All-NBL first team honours three times and led the league in assists in all four of his seasons with the Breakers, the first player to achieve the feat.
The Cleveland State alum was also named one of the top 40 players in NBL history last season – with career numbers of 13.6 points, 6.3 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. He has recorded the last five triple-doubles in the NBL, managing double-figure assists 22 times in his career.
He will no doubt have a point to prove in the NBL after being released by Melbourne United nine games into a two-season deal in his last stint in Australia.
“Cedric is considered in some circles to be one of the best point guards to have ever played in the NBL,” Hawks general manager Mat Campbell said.
“Jackson’s career statistics speak for themselves, the most exciting aspect for the Hawks is the winning attitude and leadership that he brings to the club.”
The signing of Jackson completes a back-court that will also include Naar, Jordair Jett and skipper Kevin White.
It also fills the ninth position on the Hawks 2018-19 roster with just two more spots to fill ahead of the preseason.
