The four-bedroom, four-bathroom house at 27 Tingira Crescent, Kiama sold for $3.35 million last week.
The property was listed on the market in May.
One of the selling agents, Steve Pryor, principal at Raine & Horne Kiama said it was located on one of Kiama’s most sought-after northerly oceanfront headland positions.
The previous owners had been holiday letting the property.
Mr Pryor said it had sold to a Sydney buyer, who planned to use it “as a weekender and a holiday let”.
“It has certainly raised the bar as far as high-priced house sales in Kiama,” he said.
During recent years, Kiama has recorded some notable house sales, including 58 Old Saddleback Road for $3 million in 2013.
Also, 256 Saddleback Mountain Road, Jerrara sold for $4 million in 2006.
Mr Pryor said the Tingira Crescent home was inspired by the high-end Hamptons region in the US.
“The (previous) owner originates from there, was born and raised there,” he told the Mercury recently.
“It’s not one of those general makeovers – they’ve spent almost a million dollars on renovations to transform the property to what’s currently there.
“Everything was only completed a couple of years ago.
“They were hoping to move down here, but it just hasn’t worked out.
“They wouldn’t have spent the dollars they did if they knew they were going to just sell it… But it was all for the right reasons at the time.”
Construction was undertaken and completed by Lime Building Group.
According to Australian Property Monitors, the home previously sold in 2007 for $1,740,000.
Features include extensive use of external stonework, glazed balconies and landscaped gardens, an automatic watering system, a bronze pond sculpture by Larissa Smagarinsky and garden sculpture by Peter Taylor.
The other selling agent was Paul Belleville.
