The curtains are closing this week on the 124th BlueScope WIN Wollongong Eisteddfod with the final competition category, Solo Dance, underway this week.
Competitors attend from across NSW and some from interstate in the hope of receiving a trophy in musical performance, singing, spoken word, drama and dance.
This year saw more than 3000 performances, with more than 1500 individual competitors across six weeks. While it’s been co-ordinated by a team of around 70 volunteers.
Since it was first established in 1894, the Wollongong Eisteddfod is the second oldest eisteddfod in Australia.
The competition, which runs across six weeks, is coordinated by hundreds of volunteers and considered a major opportunity for young performers to gain valuable experience in front of an audience.
