During the last eight months wine sales at the Steelers Club’s have risen almost 100 percent.
The news coincided with a visit to the club on Thursday by Australian wine ambassador to the world Jane Ferrari.
Ms Ferrari, of Yalumba, was the guest at a lunch that showcased the standard of wine and food now on the menu.
She is known around the globe as a true blue down to earth Aussie with a great story to tell. And shares some of those stories on Thursday.

Ms Ferrari is an influencer who has put Australian produce on the wine list at Scotland Yard and in Washington. But she said the Steelers Club now had an equally impressive wine list.
Steelers Club general manager Sharon Arrow became aware of Ms Ferrari when Wine Communicators of Australia named her 2012 Wine Communicator of the Year.
Inspired by such people in the industry Ms Arrow has introduced many changes during the last nine months. In the process drawing on years of major event experience in some of Australia’s largest and most prestigious sporting venues.
She was eager to make improvements for patrons after relocating from Sydney Olympic Park where she was operations manager at the Showground. She was also head of hospitality and sporting services at the SCG and Allianz Stadium.
On Thursday she praised the catering team for the standard of the food. When she first arrived she realised it was important not to just assume everyone likes beer. So she set about improving the menu and wine list.
“I am a very passionate person about food and beverages and ensuring we look after all our patrons,” she said.
“During my career I have developed a great relationship with the people at Sam Smith Wines. We have been sitting down going through our menus and making sure we are putting a complete package together for our patrons. During the last eight months our wine sales have risen by 92.7 per cent.”
Ms Arrow said people in Wollongong have an increasingly high expectation. “This is a celebration of wine and food in our club and our city”.
