Bulli Pass will be shut in both directions, between Lawrence Hargrave Drive and the M1 Princes Motorway, from 9am to 3pm on July 24 and 25, weather permitting.
Roads and Maritime Services said the road is being closed so “essential maintenance work” can be carried out.
The work includes maintaining vegetation to improve motorist sight lines, clearing gutters and drains, as well as the maintenance of guardrails, signs and safety ramps.
Motorists have been urged to plan their journey and allow 10 minutes of additional travel time.
“Motorists travelling between Bulli Tops and Wollongong’s northern suburbs may detour via Lawrence Hargrave Drive or via the M1 Princes Motorway and Memorial Drive,” an RMS spokeswoman said.
“Residents within the closure area will have access to their properties via Lawrence Hargrave Drive at all times under the guidance of traffic controllers.”
