Mitchell, Kiama’s Wil DIabarra, and Nicholas Coggan of Dubbo all finished on even par 70.
However it was the trusty wedge of Mitchell that found the bottom of the hole on the first to take the out the tournament.
Diabarra must have felt like a bridesmaid all weekend with another runners-up finish and he will be keen to enter the winner’s circle shortly.
On Saturday, Shoalhaven Heads Mark Johnson won the Shoalhaven Cup at Nowra Golf Club.
Johnson carded an even par 68 in perfect conditions. In second place was Kiama Golf Club’s Wil Diabarra who carded a 69.
Third place went to Thomas Holz of Links Shell Cove on 70.
Meanwhile, Port Kembla’s Eddie Ward took out the NSW under 15 junior scratch plate prize in Newcastle by a whopping eight shots, with rounds of 78, 81, 75 and 76.
