After MP David Elliot suggested the the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to visit regional New South Wales, Keira MP Ryan Park lodged a question on notice in an attempt to lure them to the Illawarra.
“Considering your public comments about inviting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to visit regional New South Wales on their upcoming trip to Sydney, will you put forward the Illawarra region for consideration as a place for the couple to visit?” Mr Park said in the letter.
Mr Elliot’s simple response: “No”.
Mr Park said the response was disappointing as their visit would be an opportunity to showcase the region to a worldwide audience.
But the case is not closed, as Mr Park said he would be asking Nowra MP Shelly Hancock and Kiama MP Gareth Ward to urge Mr Elliott to reverse his decision.
The newlyweds, however, will be attending the Invictus Games in Sydney from October 20 to 27.
