Woonona’s Chelsea Dunley lost her husband, childhood sweetheart Wayde, after he fell from a Bundeena cliff last year.
It was just after they had sent their final video application to the popular House Rules reality television series to be contestants. Their dream was to transform their two-bedroom miners cottage into the family home they had always wanted.
Following Mrs Dunley’s tragic loss her dreams did come true, with the show’s producers organising for the three final teams to give Mrs Dunley and her daughter Koa’s home a make-over.
“It was everything we were working towards, right up until the day before the accident,” Mrs Dunley told the Mercury.
In the television advertising Wayde – a former West Tigers and East Campbelltown Eagles player – is honoured in many ways throughout the house, including photographs and love letters he had sent to his loved one.
The Dunley home’s renovation is the final challenge for House Rules contestants to get to the grand final of the reality television competition.
House Rules airs Sunday, Monday and Tuesday on Prime7.
