McGartland booted two goals in a best-on-ground performance for the Giants’ intra-club derby during the AFL Women’s winter series a week ago.
She’s also training with the club every Wednesday and firmly on the GWS radar when draft day arrives later this year.
“Hopefully, it would be a dream come true,” McGartland said.
“I’m just training as much as I can with the Giants and we’ll see how it works out.
“It’s great being part of a professional setup, just in the way we train and play, it’s been great for my game.”
McGartland would become the third Wollongong Saints player to make the AFL Women’s, after forward Kate Stanton and midfielder Maddy Collier.
The rise in the AFLW ranks comes as McGartland also prepares to play for Albion Park in the State Cup soccer final in Sydney on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Wollongong Bulldogs will have another shot at proving they can be a finals force when they take on arch-rivals Wollongong Lions at North Dalton Park.
With a 9-3 record, the Dogs can keep their top two hopes alive by beating the premiers, who suffered their first loss of the season last Saturday against Kiama.
