The Object d’Art Fair attracted hundreds of people and went so well it is likely to happen again.
Alan Samways said the two experts from Lawsons Auctioneers and Valuers were kept busy all day with a steady line-up of people bringing their collectible treasures in to be valued.
“One coin was valued at about $40,000 and there were two pieces of art valued in the $50,000 to $60,000 range,” he said.
There was so much interest, Mr Samways expects if they do it again they might look at bringing four experts next year, allowing an even broader range of objects to be appraised.
“It has gone quite well. This is the first time this has been done,” he said.
Mr Samways said the specialists were Lawsons Auctioneers and Valuers head of art Adam Thwaites and Adam McDonald, C20th Design Furniture & Objects.
Object d’Art Fair was part of Wollongong Art Gallery’s 40th-anniversary celebrations.
